So now that we're back from China, our stupid booking agent has us flying off to Ireland for a gig that only pays $150. Unfortunately we have to pay like $8000 in travel expenses to do the gig, but hey that's the life of a touring musician, right? Gotta pay yer dues, so you can hopefully one day get a record deal, right? WRONG! Man I wonder why anyone would still want a record deal anymore. It's like wanting to work for Enron in 2004. Who would sleep well at night working for the crooks? Ah but then David Bowie said, "I could go to sleep all right as a rock 'n' roll star..." Maybe that's still the dream. I wouldn't know. Gotta pack for Ireland. See you guys there! (NOT!)

The Shacks just returned from China - and boy I tell you I'll never get the hang of Mandarin! Interesting fact, though: Chinese accidently invented the term "bull shit". See - "bu-shih" is Mandarin for "not true" or disagreement. Chinese workers that came to the US to work on the railway were always saying "bu-shih" to their American overseers - who thought what they were saying was "bull shit". The phrase stuck.
